The Central Planning Committee named a fourteen-member Finance Sub-Committee, chaired by Ozo Usman Mbaekwe, to plan the festival’s finances, coordinate the project accounts and donations, and report its budget and work plan to the CPC.

Heavy rain on 30 May cut the Oji River–Achi–Awgu road between Egwu Achi and Mmaku. After a site visit by Senator Osita Ngwu and Hon. Anayo Onwuegbu, the contractor mobilized earth-moving equipment. Erosion from the Eke Ajala market square still threatens homes in Ahani.

The Achi Political Dialogue Group, meeting at Ikenecheoha Palace, asked the State to start work on the road linking Oji River and Udi LGAs and to upgrade the Achi Veterinary School to a diploma-awarding institution.

At a civic reception at St. Mary’s Field Court, Achi, the Governor said the school would train agro-allied technicians. The clan asked for a specialist upgrade of Achi Joint Hospital, a tertiary campus in Achi, and the Achi–Ehuhe–Udi and Achi Court–Amankpunato–Amoli–Ihe roads.

Hon. Anayo Onwuegbu, member for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River, said work would soon start on the hospital, once among the best in the old Awgu Division.
H.R.H. Igwe Chima Achiekwelu made wrestling the centerpiece of the Nneke-Ji and Mgbabu Edere new yam festival at Eke Egbo. Thirty young men competed; Onyedika Awuzie of Egwu-Achi won a car, Obiri Michael of Amankpunato a bus and Chibuike Okechi of Agbadala a tricycle.
